Attractions geared for children or the entire family are many. The Johannesburg Zoo is a great way to spend the day. It is located on the corner of Jan Smuts Avenue and Upper Park Drive in Parkview, Johannesburg. The zoo offers many ways to see the 2070 animals in residence. Some of the tours available to visitors include a Ferry Tour, a Behind the Scenes Tour, and Day and Night Safaris. They even offer school educational programs, holiday programs, and the Biofacts Museum.
If it’s a rhino or an elephant one wants to see, a great family adventure is a visit to the Inyati Game Reserve. The Reserve offers beautiful chalet accommodations, authentic dining experiences, morning and evening vehicle safari rides, and walking safaris. The Johannesburg Botanical Gardens is a wonderful place to spend a few hours enjoying the rose garden and the herb patch, the ponds and fountains, and the Shakespearean Garden. The adjoining dam offers visitors the opportunity for canoeing, sailing, and diving. This is such a popular spot in the area, one will always encounter daily dog walkers, runners, cyclists, and picnickers. Open from sunrise to sunset, the main entrance is on Olifants Road.
